Art at Heart

In a world that is increasingly digital, I find magic in handmade artwork, working with materials that demand attention, patience, and curiosity. Oil, watercolour, paper, brushes, pencils, each tool invites me to slow down, experiment, and explore. There’s a thrill in not knowing exactly what will happen when pigment meets paper or canvas, when textures blend, or when unexpected marks emerge. There is also frustration, mistakes, and soulful learning. I can’t simply delete, delete, delete. I have to change direction, adapt, and make something interesting. The work becomes a teacher.

...Reconnecting with curiosity, not perfection, with discovery, not result. Each medium has its own language. Oil asks for patience, strategy, and deep immersion. Watercolour invites spontaneity and surrender. Mixed media encourages play and invention and connects me with my love of design, line and typography. Switching between them keeps my practice fresh, responsive, and alive.

Making tangible things is about more than the finished piece. It’s the small victories, the surprises that happen when intuition guides the hand. It’s a form of thinking out loud, exploring both the world outside and the imagination within.

There’s joy in this unpredictability.
